Abdulla Zayed, Head of Business Structure at Masdar (UAE) for Central Asia and Russian Federation
For the first time, Masdar is participating in the Azerbaijan “Power and Renewable Energy” exhibition. Overall, we are implementing projects in more than 40 countries around the world and specialize in the renewable energy sources (RES) and the production of sustainable "green" hydrogen.
In Azerbaijan, the company is starting construction of a $225 million solar power plant with a capacity of 230 MW, 9 km northwest of Alyat village in the Absheron. The solar power plant will be built within 18 months and will provide electricity to 110,000 families, which will allow Azerbaijan to save 110 million cubic meters of gas annually and reduce emissions of 200,000 tons of carbon dioxide into atmosphere.
We want to expand our activities in Azerbaijan and are already discussing with the Ministry of Energy the possibility of working in the liberated territories and at sea.
Among the areas of cooperation with Masdar is the search for solutions for the installation of solar panels on the roofs of houses in Karabakh, the prospects for building a solar power station with a capacity of about 200 MW in Karabakh.
Masdar projects will help Azerbaijan to meet its international obligations on reduction of greenhouse gases emissions into the atmosphere as a part of the Global Green Agenda.
We believe that Azerbaijan has a great potential for the development of renewable energy.
